Witness Recalls Last Messages in MySpace Hoax Case

As tragic as this situation is, I do not believe that the mother should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. This woman is a mother and prison will only remove her from her family. I feel sympathetic toward Megan's family, but obviously this young girl had emotional issues that her parents were not addressing. Sending this woman to prison will not bring Megan back nor will it alleviate the guilt that Megan's parents must be experiencing for failing to meet their child's mental health needs. Parents need to monitor their kids' computer habits. Parents also need to increase their awareness and involvement in their child's life. By no means should the perpetrators of this hoax be allowed to walk away unscathed but prison time should not be a punishment.
